life, drums, family

Bearing my soul… a little bit…

This is the first in a video series where I’ll be talking, not playing drums.  But, I’ll be talking about playing drums (a bit), but more than that, talking about the process of overcoming my own fears as an artist-  it’s a hairy beast, fear, and can cripple even the best artists…  but I believe that by talking about it, we can get better…   so, watch this vid, and let me know what you think!

  1. Fear of Rejection. Yeah, I been there too Brother. I guess u can try to change your attitude that if even one person likes your stuff than it’s a success. If several people like it, it’s a bigger success. Not sure if many artists are ever 100% satisfied with their recordings. I figure if my recordings survive me, my music will live on after I’m gone. Then maybe somebody that heard a song and liked it maybe will re-do it, and make it even better. I mean there’s always that chance , right ? Lately I been re-recording some of my old songs that I always wanted to redo, and getting airplay on WKQK radio, 1300 AM, here in Brevard County. No it’s not FM, but it’s still cool to hear ones own stuff on the radio ! Who knows, maybe we’ll get “discovered” after we’re dead ! LOL — Rock on Man ! Just get it out there as best you can ! — P S- I still think you’re the best Drummer I’ve ever heard in the state of Florida brother ! For whatever it’s worth. 🙂

    • Thanks man! There’s a lot to it, and at this point, I am committed to overcoming my fear- so we’ll see where it goes from here.
